The Strikers entered this tournament and did well. There were 12 U8 girls teams participating in the tournament, creating three groups with semi-final games and a final game. The girls and fans all had a fun weekend of soccer.
In the first game, the Strikers were matched with the Broken Arrow Swipers, a team the Strikers beat 4-3 in the Green Country Championship tournament last spring. The girls were a little off thier game in this match as they had been unable to practice for 2 weeks due to lack of light. The Strikers lost 11-2 with Kelsey Gordon scoring 2 goals.
In the second game, the Strikers were matched with the Muskogee Predators. The Strikers were back on thier game for this match, winning 11-0. Kelsey Gordon led the attack with 9 goals with Molly McCool getting the other 2. Adrianna Banks helped in the attack with 4 assists. Aubrey Welker and Katelin Hamilton helped earn the shut out with more than 10 saves.
The third game the Strikers were matched against the Broken Arrow Angels. This was a tough team, but the Strikers gave it thier all pulling off a 4-1 win. Kelsey gordon scored all 4 goals with 2 assists from Adrianna Banks and 1 from Aubrey Welker. Molly McCool played through a sore ankle providing a strong defense alongside Katelin Hamilton. This win allowed the Strikers into the semi-final round of play as the wildcard winner.
In the semi-final game, the Strikers were matched against the Owasso Attack. This team was very tough and were able to set up a great attack. The half score was 5-2 in favor of Owasso. The Strikers were able to fight the attack in the second half, holding the Attack to only 2 goals. The Strikers also added another of thier own, but it was not enough and Sapulpa lost 7-3.
The 2 teams that defeated the Strikers went on to play in the final game, with Owasso, the team that Sapulpa lost to by only 4, taking the championship. In the end, the Strikers had 20 goals for and 19 goals against and finished 4th in goal differential and overall points.
